The switch to VoIP Telephony - why you need to and how it can save you money

In this week's episode, we'll be discussing how you can save up to 60% on your telephony costs by switching to a VoIP telephone system.

The reason for this switch is that soon enough, the PSTN (traditional phone) network will be shut down.

This means that every phone line in the UK will have to be moved to a digital system, such as Voice over IP (VoIP).

This change will not only affect voice services, but will also mean that businesses will need to update their other tech that's connected to the PSTN line.

Mark will clue you in to what those might be, so you can be fully prepared for any disruption that might occur.

Additionally, ISDN is coming to an end.

As a business owner, it's important to be aware of this change and make the necessary updates before it's too late.

Listen to this episode 75 of Techcess to learn more about how to make the switch and how it can benefit your business.

Want to know more about VoIP specifically?

In this older episode, we dive into the importance of having a reliable telephony system for your business, and how VoIP technology can provide cost-effective solutions for engaging with customers, keeping pace with rapid product development cycles and protecting digital rights and data from hackers.

We welcome Myles Leach, the MD of NFON, a company that offers VoIP technology and telephony equipment across the UK, to share his 20+ years of experience in technology and business and address common FAQs about VoIP.

Myles discuss how if you will lose features and functionality of your existing system, if it will cost more than you are currently paying and what you might be paying for that you don't need.

"Now, when it comes to technology is always better when you consciously make the decision to make the change, because then you can do it in your own time, under your own control. If you wait until the last minute you might be forced in a route that potentially wouldn't have one down had you actually put this on the cards a bit earlier. So at some point before 2025, you'll need to move from PSTN and ISDN services to the latest IP technology. And you probably know that the digital rollout and full fibre network and stuff is way behind in the UK. Maybe you didn't, but it is, but they're on it. They're trying to get things up to speed so they can support this switch off. So the next thing that's going to happen, and I mentioned this earlier that there is a date this year, which in September 2023, BT are going to stop selling traditional phone lines in all exchange areas."
